Quinta do Lago – South

Regarded by many as the top course on the Algarve, the South course provides a good challenge to players of all abilities, despite its reputation as a championship course. The course overlooks the stunning Ria Formosa National Park and lies in a wonderfully tranquil setting amongst wildflowers, umbrella pines and a series of lakes. Although most of the fairways are relatively open and undulating, the challenge lies in negotiating a series of doglegs and strategically placed hazards.

Vale de Lobo – Ocean

The Ocean Course provides an interesting contract to its neighbour; whereas the cliff-top Royal demands accuracy most of all, the Ocean allows golfers to think and play a more strategic round. Always in immaculate condition, many of the holes run through a nature reserve, before the course makes its way down to the sea and there are some stunning views of the coastline to enjoy. Designed by Sir Henry Cotton and Rocky Roquemore, the Ocean is a combination of two nine hole loops which provide an enjoyable challenge to all standards of golfer.

Vale do Lobo – Royal

The legendary Sir Henry Cotton designed Royal Course has been revised by Rocky Roquemore in recent years, and continues to thrill golfers thanks to its wonderful surroundings and the sweeping elevation changes that define the layout and provide much of the challenge. Plus, of course, the tight, immaculately groomed fairways, bordered by mature umbrella pines, that are so indicative of the golf courses in this region. The Royal boasts some spectacular holes, the most famous of which is the cliff-top 16th hole Par 3.

Pinheiros Altos

Pinheiros Altos translates to tall pine trees, so you’ll know what to expect here! This 27 hole course has a beautiful setting alongside the Ria Formosa Natural Park, and its wide, gently undulating fairways are lined with these pines, leading up to immaculate greens, with well-placed bunkers and water hazards creating a wonderful golfing experience. Pinheiros Altos is one of the best regarded golf courses on the Algarve; a real treat to play, with its signature hole being a Par 3 island hole, reminiscent of Sawgrass.

San Lorenzo

One of Europe’s finest courses! The beautifully manicured San Lorenzo course is set in a dense pine forest within the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve, an unspoilt area of natural beauty. The course is a characterised by gently undulating fairways, large fast greens, with a number of lakes and lagoons in between. Each holes is unique in its design, and there are some spectacular views of the coast as the course winds its way towards it. A memorable golfing experience.
