Opened in 1992, Pinta is a well thought out, interesting course which has a reputation for its excellent condition. The course’s Bermuda fairways wind through an old olive grove, where there are trees up to 700 years old. Accuracy is key are there are a number of water hazards and dog legs to negotiate before you reach the fast, undulating greens. The course has a beautiful setting as it rises into the surrounding hills, and there are some spectacular views to enjoy.

Gramacho

Sister to Pinta Golf Course, Gramacho is the second 18 hole championship course located at Carvoeiro Golf Club. The course lies in scenic, rolling terrain and is dotted with outcrops of rock, dry stone walls, fig, almond, carob and olive trees, as well as bunkers and lakes to provide an interesting and unusual challenge. This, combined with well thought out holes, challenging greens and its excellent condition, results in a course with plenty of variety, which is probably why it is one of the most popular

Alto

The final course to be designed by the legendary Sir Henry Cotton, Alto enjoys a magnificent setting as it crosses two valleys and uses the natural Algarve landscape to shape its winding fairways and gently undulating greens. It might remind you of a UK parkland course if it weren’t for occasional views of the stunning Bay of Lagos! A long, challenging course, where hole 16, O’ Gigante (the Giant!), at 604 metres, is one of the longest holes in Europe – a real challenge!

Opened in 2006, Silves has a fast growing reputation, particularly due to its excellent condition. The course lies on gently undulating terrain with spectacular views of the surrounding countryside and mountains to be enjoyed. The opening hole sets the tone, where there are 2 water hazards to negotiate, and attacking play will be rewarded. An enjoyable challenge that will test golfers of all abilities.

A Donald Steel masterpiece, the 27-hole Vila Sol complex is one of the finest courses on the Algarve, and indeed Europe. Host to the Portuguese Open, the course has some beautiful, holes as it winds its way through a vast pinewood in which fig, oak and almond trees flourish. The narrow, demanding fairways constantly test your accuracy, along with strategically placed bunkers and a smattering of water features – a good score here will be well earned!
