The a la carte restaurant has a beautiful terrace overlooking the golf course, or, for a change of scene, the lively town of Ayamonte, is just a five minutes drive away where there are plenty of bars and restaurants to try.

Islantilla

A 27 hole course which offers the opportunity of playing 3 different 18 hole combinations. Opened in 1992, Islantilla has a lush parkland layout, and lies close enough to the sea to offer fine views over the Atlantic Ocean. Each of the 9 hole combinations offers a different challenge, Holes 1 to 9 are hilly with a few blind shots; Holes 10 to 18 are undulating with hanging lies to be expected; Holes 19 to 27 are long but not overly difficult. An interesting and challenging course which offers something for everybody.

Valle Guadiana Links

Recently taken over by the Isla Canela group (was Costa Esuri golf) and now open again for business. An open, relatively long course with wide, well maintained fairways which allow your shots maximum run! The course sits on the Guadiana River (the border between Spain and Portugal) and there are some spectacular views of both countries to enjoy. There’s plenty of variety of holes, as the front 9 has a links feel to it, whereas the back 9 has a parkland design, and despite its length the course is fair to all standards of golfer and is easily walkable. A popular, good value choice.

Isla Canela

A relatively flat course, Isla Canela winds through gently undulating dunes and is dotted with olive, orange, eucalyptus and palm trees. Harder than it looks, accuracy is the key here, the challenge coming from the strategically placed water hazards and tricky approach shots to greens which most holes require. An easy walking course that’ll get you thinking – and beware when the wind blows!

Castro Marim

A firm favourite of many of our golfers, Castro Marim runs through undulating hills dotted with pines, and breathtaking views across the River Guadiana to neighbouring Spain. The course will appeal to all standards of golfer, the challenge being to navigate the narrow, sloping fairways and small, testing, fast greens. A delightful course in beautiful surroundings, and one of the cheapest on the Algarve – great value! There are 27 holes which gives you the option of different starts and you can play 3 different rounds of 18 holes. Buggy recommended.

Quinta do Vale

This magnificent Seve Ballesteros designed course opened is situated right on the far edge of the Eastern Algarve, offering great panoramic views across the Guadiana River towards Spain. This championship course consists of 6 par 5’s, 6 par 4’s and 6 par 3’s. The front nine has strategically placed water hazards on most holes which makes you think twice about club selection. The back nine, however, differs in character, and is a little more open, as it climbs to the highest point of the course from where the views are stunning. A great challenge to all level of golfers.
